 Horner is growing and growing! We currently serve almost 1200 students - that is alot of students! PLEASE WATCH FOR THEM AS YOU DROP OFF AND PICK THE STUDENT UP.  WE WANT THEM SAFE AND SOUND COMING AND GOING.
We ask that you observe the following procedures to ensure that all students are safe:
Please observe the signs - The City of Fremont worked with our school to create the most efficient and safe way to drop off the kids.  DO NOT TURN LEFT OUT OF THE PARKING LOTS IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL, YOU MUST EXIT RIGHT.
Do not park and wait in the parking lots - Many parents are waiting with their children in the parking lots until the class bell rings.  As you know, parking is limited.  Our teachers need the parking space in order to get to class on time.  Please drop your student off after 7:45 a.m. They may proceed to the waiting area on the blacktop or the blue tables behind the school or in the library.    
Be courteous - Please remember that students model our behavior.  
We want Horner to be a safe place for all!.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Campus Visitors:  Student safety is our number one concern. In an effort to ensure a safe environment for our students, ALL VISITORS MUST CHECK IN AT THE OFFICE, SIGN IN, AND WEAR A VISITOR’S BADGE WHILE ON CAMPUS. All staff is trained to question any adult they see on campus during school hours without a visitor’s badge. This is for the protection of your student. Please help us keep our children safe by following these guidelines.

Attention Parents of all incoming 7th Grade Students:
Current California Law (AB 354) requires an additional immunization called Tdap in order for your student to advance into or enter 7th grade. The adolescent whooping cough/pertussis booster shot, (Tdap) must be given on or after age 7 to meet this requirement.
Valid proof must show: 1) type of shot given, 2) date, 3) provider’s signature/stamp.
If parents have not provided proof to their school by the first day of school, your student will NOT be allowed to attend.
To Horner Parents:
Please follow the instructions below how to call in for an absence or to reach a staff member.
Horner's phone number - 510-656-4000.  When you call the school you will be prompted with the following choices.
  • You can put in the 5 digit extension if you know it. 
  • Press 7 for attendance (absences) or dial extension 48901 for the absence line.
  • Press 8 for the dial by name option.
  • Press 0 to get the office.
Please note that all students are aware of the "no classroom interruption" policy. We remind students in our daily bulletin periodically throughout the year to check in the office if they have forgotten their lunch, homework, etc. All visitors dropping off items are required to come to the office. Any bag lunches not claimed will be disposed of at the end of the day and lunch boxes will remain in the office for two days and if not claimed will be placed in the lost and found on the third day.

  • Dear Parents,


    I would like to invite you to our first School Site Council Meeting, which will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 28 from 2:30- 3:30 pm in the Horner Junior High School library. We will continue to meet on a quarterly basis.  This is a good way to find out more about the plans for student achievement, safety and the school expenditures.  We will also be electing parent officers.   I hope to see you there.

    Reflections Art Program

    Reflections is a National Art program run since 1969. Students REFLECT on the theme, CREATE an original work and are RECOGNIZED for their efforts. The theme for the 2015-2016 school year is Let Your Imagination Fly!
    Submit your original work created exclusively for this program and you have the potential to achieve recognition at national level.
    You can submit entries in the following six categories:
    1.     Dance Choreography
    2.     Film Production
    3.     Literature
    4.     Music Composition
    5.     Photography
    6.     Visual Arts   (NEW this year: 3D artwork allowed in this category)

    Reflections Theme Search Contest

    Theme ideas are invited for the year 2016-17.  Win $100 if your theme is the winning entry! 
    The deadline for receiving these entries at the CA PTA office is November 1, 2015 so be sure to mail early. The form and rules to participate are available at http://capta.org/programs-events/reflections/theme-search/.
